No Doubt

The night was dark and there was a slight drizzle. She stood there shivering in the rain. "If only I had listened to my inner instincts" she thought...

But it was too late to dwell on “what if’s” and “if only’s”; the damage already done.

She knew there was no going back; knew that once she crossed that line and allowed herself to be taken to the edge, normalcy would be no more; nothing but an empty word.

She began walking, along the side of the road; a seemingly endless, desolate stretch. Not knowing where she was going; not much caring if she ever got there; for she was certain where she had just come from, and anywhere was better than there.

His taillights dissolved in the distance behind her, leaving her alone in the darkness. “It can’t be love, if you don’t look back,” she whispered aloud; with no one left to hear her. And though she never said the words, she knew he never had a doubt.
